What is Family Day Care?
Family Day Care is an approved form of child care that is provided in the Family Day Care Educator’s own home. Bundaberg Baptist Family Day Care offers families a flexible, convenient and diverse child care choice. Family Day Care Educators deliver qualified professional child care in a family focussed environment.
We believe the heart of quality Family Day Care is:
- Creating a safe, nurturing and holistic home environment.
- Valuing differences and advocating respectful inclusive practices.
- Providing individual educational programs.
- Providing a professional, high quality child care service.
Educators work with small groups of children - up to 7 children at any given time, and of those 7 children, no more than 4 can be under school age. The home based setting provides a familiar, safe and secure learning environment. Family Day Care’s small group environment facilitates strong bonds and promotes effective early learning and social development.
Bundaberg Baptist Family Day Care offers care during standard hours, evenings, before/after school, during school holidays (vacation care), overnight and weekends. Care can be occasional, regular, part-time or full-time. Care can also be arranged for extended hours for shift workers, 24-hour care and care for children with diverse and special needs.
Family day care can provide education and care for children from babies through to and including school age; offering the possibility for siblings to be cared for together, all in one location.
Educators work in partnership with our Co-ordination Unit team who provide regular home visits to monitor the children’s progress and to provide support. Family Day Care operates under the same National Quality Framework (NQF) as other forms of child care; incorporating National Law and Regulations, National Quality Standards, Educational Frameworks and the Assessment and Rating process. Parents are eligible to claim the same Federal Government Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate subsidies.
