Closure of Bundaberg Baptist Family Day Care Service

Bundaberg Baptist Family Day Care Scheme (BBFDC) has been supporting local families through the
provision of professional, quality child care in home environments for over 35 years. In addition, BBFDC is
renowned for its service and strong relationships with the community through connections with the
Bundaberg Base Hospital, Edon Place, Family and Child Connect, Child Safety and the Early Childhood
networks, among others.

Due to changes in the Australian Government’s funding of child care we regret to inform you that BBFDC

will be unable to continue to operate as a Family Day Care service beyond 29th April.

Termination of federal funding through the Community Support Program (at end of June 2018) has not
been effectively replaced with alternative funding provisions. This leaves BBFDC with a projected
significant fiscal shortfall in the new financial year, as well as the years ahead.

Consequently, it is with sincere regret that The Baptist Union of Queensland, in conjunction with the
Bundaberg Baptist Church, have made the decision to cease operating family day care under the Scheme
and close the associated Kids in Cars hire and install service.

All efforts are being made to provide a smooth transition for our loyal Family Day Care Educators and the
children in their care. Bundaberg Baptist Family Day Care is working closely with the Family Day Care
Association of Queensland, and we are confident that all the children, families and educators can be
suitably placed into ongoing quality services by Sunday the 29th April.

The change to BBFDC will not immediately affect the HIPPY Program, or the FDC Footprints Kindergarten
program, which will both continue to support all of their existing families.
